6/10/2012: Rancho Santa Fe Road Race
Rancho Santa Fe Road Course is a club-favorite 4-mile road circuit.
Starts and finishes on Via de Fortuna at Vista de Fortuna. After a
short downhill you’ll turn right onto El Montevideo, which continues
down and then levels and rolls until a right turn onto San Elijo.
Slightly uphill then some more descending before the climb starts
along the golf course and continues after a right turn onto Via de
Fortuna. A, B, and C groups will complete six laps for a total of 24
miles. We'll stagger the starts to keep the groups separate.

Meet at Poinsettia Village Starbucks in Carlsbad at 8:00 for a sign-
in, then ride over to the start/finish point on Via de Fortuna in time
to sign in anyone who wants to meet there. After the event we’ll meet
for coffee and story telling.

Point System
Points will be awarded for placings in each category for the overall
series. 10 points will be awarded to the winner of each category, then
8, 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 points for places 2-7. All riders will receive at
least 1 point for participating.

Categories
The three categories are designed to keep similarly-paced riders
together. “A” is very fast (generally category 1-2 and fast 3s). “B”
is still a quick bunch (generally, career 3-4 riders). And the “C”
group is designed for riders who enjoy Swami’s club rides but don’t
normally compete. If you’re not sure in which category you should
ride, err on the side of the faster group. You can always ease up
until the next category catches you.
