2017 Swami’s Poker Ride Recap

Sunday June 4th saw another run of the World Famous Swami’s Poker Ride with 60 people taking to the roads and trails. There was a fierce battle among Fast group with Masters Racing beating the also rans by several miles. In the Medium category the Wooly Mammoths managed a pace that would have made them contenders in the Fast group so will automatically be upgraded in the next edition. A day of the race team called Spades for Snow won the final category which was very competitive but eked out several contenders who persevered through flats and challenges.

The Best Poker Hand was won handily by the Pot Splashers with an 8s over 3s Full House. All the winners received one of a kind works of art to hang around their necks by our very own artist in residence DJ, which also included hand numbered limited edition Poker Ride 2017 t-shirts.

A big thanks goes out to our volunteers: Steve Ummel, Tatiana Dearinger, and Camilla Muir (for food pickup and emergency wine delivery.)

The event could not have happened without help from others: Iron Fist for a keg of great Belgian Blonde, Clif Bar, Nytro, our Mystery Course Creator, and MMX for lending extra BWR supplies.
