About Swami’s. Founded in 1989, Swami’s Cycling Club is one of the premier and most recognized clubs in southern California. We are composed of more than 200 male and female cyclists in the San Diego region who participate in the entire spectrum of cycling activities from the adrenalin-pumping action of racing to mountain bike and fitness rides.
Swami’s is committed to developing the sport of cycling and cultivating a positive lifestyle. Each year we organize several cycling events in the community and also support a variety of charities.
Swami’s is a 501(c)3 Charitable Organization and a member of the United States Cycling Federation (USCF) – the governing body for road and track cycling in the United States.
Swami’s member activities encompass the entire range of the sport, with racing, long-distance endurance and recreational fun and fitness rides appealing to different parts of the club membership.
We are by no means an elitist team. While at our core Swami’s is a racing club, we welcome anyone who loves the sport of cycling. Our goal is to encourage and support all riders who want to participate and develop their skills. Everyone is welcome.
Weekly Rides. Swami’s conducts regular weekly training and fitness rides throughout the week. Bicycling Magazine has ranked the world famous Saturday Swami’s Ride as one of the top 10 organized rides in the nation. Over the years we have seen some great riders joining us for the Saturday ride including Lance Armstrong, Chris Horner, Floyd Landis, Axel Merckx and many Olympian’s.

Racing. Swami’s Cycling has a strong presence on the local, state and even national cycling scene. Over the years we have won many, lost many and enjoyed it all. Most recently in 2014, Swami’s member Mike Birditt won the Masters Scratch World Championship. Throughout the year we also organize and participate in free and fun club races, organize the Carlsbad Grand Prix race and other cycling events in the community.
Social Events. While we enjoy nothing more than a ride followed by an espresso, we also enjoy a variety of social activities throughout the year including social hours, an annual picnic, networking socials, Kit Distribution Night and our usual end-of-year toast.
Community Outreach. Swami’s has a growing presence in the local community. We believe our community is a better place when we communicate with local city councils, law enforcement and transportation authorities on cycling and making our roads safe for all. We also are working with schools to promote cycling safety and skills to children in the community.
