There is plenty of free parking nearby, just south of the bike shop at CVS pharmacy or off of Cedros drive at the train station..
This week we are going to head north into Carlsbad along the coast, then into Oceanside and then do a little bit of Vista on a recent favorite, rerouted a bit, to take the groups on a road that I recently discovered and think everyone will enjoy 😉
The route will be the same for the C and D groups and there is a Chevron at mile 24 for restroom and refueling if needed.

E Route is the original Carlsbad Oceanside Route- there is a stop at mile 21.5 for restroom/snacks.
If you cannot keep the E group pace please be prepared to lead yourself,
have the ride downloaded to your GPS device or have a route sheet printed.

While we do our best to keep these no drop rides, there are times when this is not feasible. If you cannot keep the minimum pace for the group you are with, wait for the group behind you.
Also if possible have the route loaded onto your GPS device
Keep in mind…
We will be taking off at staggered times AFTER the faster Swami’s groups leave. We will leave around 8:00Am -it is a good idea to still get there around 7:45 or so.
NOTES: Please bring an extra tube, CO2 cartridge or hand pump, and enough fluid and snacks (suggestion: two bottles minimum for the longer rides, and two snacks). Helmets are always required, and we obey all traffic laws. Road bikes are required for these rides.
C, D, and E groups are conducted in a non-competitive, cooperative format. If you are unsure where you are at but want to try us out, you can always start with the E group and see how that feels this week and then adjust accordingly.
C: Fast-paced with average speeds on flats 18-22 mph and average pace times over hilly routes 16-18 mph. Minimal stoppage times. Regroup at key points on the route.
D: Moderately-paced with average speeds on the flats in the 15-18 mph range with emphasis on consistent effort and building climbing skills. Overall average pace will be in 14-15 mph range on this route. Regrouping as needed.
E: Steady-paced rides with average speeds on flats 13-15 mph and average pace times in the 12-14 mph range. The overall emphasis is on building riding skills: using your gears, pacing, riding safely in traffic.
PLEASE remember that all of our ride leaders are VOLUNTEERS and they work very hard to make these rides fun and enjoyable for EVERYONE.
