Swamdo Training Ride #2

Event Details

Last week, we kicked our series of five Swamdo training rides with the Fallbrook Ride. Now we’re on #2!

For our second training ride, we’ll head north on the coast to Carlsbad, then turn east and ride through Vista to Lilac, Circle R, Champagne, and Jesmond Dene… well-loved roads we’ve been missing a bunch!  For a restroom stop, take a short detour to the AM/PM in Bonsall.  For food and water, the camp store at the bottom of Circle R is great, just before you head up Champagne (Their restrooms are not open tot he public).  Rouleur opens at 12 PM for more fun after the ride 🍻

Bathrooms at Rouleur will open at 7:30 AM

The route is 55 miles/4,242′ https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37097080

There is a slightly shorter option that is 49 miles/3,328′  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37557548

The focus of these rides is endurance and climbing, not so much speed.  They are designed to get us in shape for hills, long hills.  Cool weather is not in the forecast this time of year, so plan on the necessary hydration and nutrition. Please be ready to take care of yourself and be sure to load the route to your GPS device. All training rides start at Rouleur Brewing in Carlsbad.

NOTES:

  • This is a ride for road bikes only (no aero, e- or mountain bikes).
  • We regroup at key points, but these are not no-drop rides.

  PLEASE READ:

    • Safety is always first. Each cyclist is responsible for following health and cycling safety guidelines as well as traffic laws.
    • Helmets are required.
    • Please have the route loaded onto your GPS device or know the course.
