This is the first of five Swamdo training rides (If you’re new to the club, Swamdo is short for Swami’s Gran Fondo, and it’s on November 12). Distance and elevation will increase as we progress through them. The focus of these rides is endurance and climbing, not so much speed. They are designed to get us in shape for hills, long hills. Cool weather is not in the forecast this time of year, so plan on the necessary hydration and nutrition. Please be ready to take care of yourself and be sure to load the route to your GPS device. All training rides start at Rouleur Brewing in Carlsbad.
Swamdo Training Ride #1 takes us on one of our favorite routes: Fallbrook. Highlights are Vista Twist and beautiful sweeping views from Alta Vista Rd. A good rest stop is the Arco gas station in Bonsall.
