You’ll be sad to miss either route of our last training ride this year. Both routes start by climbing up San Elijo for extra fun, then go on to the classic climb of Lake Wohlford. The routes split off at Lilac and W. Lilac (Mile 36). Those doing the full 81-miler will head off for Couser Steep (Northbound), Rice Canyon, northbound, returning on the best parts of our Fallbrook route. This route has it all… except flat roads. Make sure to keep yourself fueled, hydrated, and NOT red-zoned so you can keep the hurt locker at bay.
The alternative route for those training for the metric century skips Couser and Rice Canyons by cutting across W. Lilac, Circle R, and Camino Del Rey.
The rest stops are the Chevron station after the right turn from Woods Valley Rd. (Mile 30) and the Arco station in Bonsall. If those doing the full route need a stop in between, there is a market and restrooms in the little town of Rainbow, but you’ll have to go up to 5th St./Hwy 395.
